appropriation; DPS; stand-by pay

Purpose

Appropriates an unspecified amount from the state General Fund (state GF) to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) in FY 2025 to pay the cost of stand-by pay for peace officers employed by DPS.

Background

DPS is responsible for creating and coordinating services for use by local law enforcement agencies in protecting the public safety and for formulating plans with a view to establish modern services for prevention of crime, apprehension of violators, training of law enforcement personnel and the promotion of public safety. The department consists of the following divisions: 1) Arizona Highway Patrol; 2) Narcotics Enforcement and Criminal Investigation; 3) Scientific Criminal Analysis; 4) Training and Education; and 5) Major Incident Division (A.R.S. §§ 41-1711 and
 
41-1712).

S.B. 1175 appropriates an unspecified amount from the state GF to DPS in FY 2025.

Provisions

1.   Appropriates an unspecified amount from the state GF to DPS in FY 2025 to pay the cost of standby pay for peace officers employed by DPS.

2.   Becomes effective on the general effective date.
