ARIZONA STATE SENATE
Fifty-Sixth Legislature, Second Regular Session
group B weight; tribal students
Purpose
Establishes a group B weight of 0.021 for tribal students.
Background
The school finance formula provides funding weights based on student enrollment and characteristics to determine a school district's or charter school's weighted student count for the purposes of calculating the Base Support Level. Group A weights are applied based on a school district's or charter school's average daily membership. Group B weights are applied using specific student characteristics and needs, including for developmental disabilities, English language learners and kindergarten programs and grades one through three (A.R.S. § 15-943).
If establishing a group B weight for tribal students causes Basic State Aid costs to increase, there may be a fiscal impact to the state General Fund.
