appropriation; address confidentiality program fund
Purpose
Appropriates $400,000 from the Victim Compensation and Assistance Fund in FY 2025 to the Address Confidentiality Program Fund.
Background
The Victim Compensation and Assistance Fund is administered by the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission (ACJC) and consists of monies from court fees and unclaimed victim restitution monies. ACJC must allocate monies to public and private agencies to establish, maintain and support programs that compensate and assist victims of crime (A.R.S. § 41-2407).
The Secretary of
State (SOS) administers the Arizona Address Confidentiality Program to allow
persons that have been subjected to domestic violence offenses, sexual offenses
or stalking to keep their residence addresses confidential (A.R.S.
§ 41-162). The Address Confidentiality Program Fund is administered by the
SOS and consists of monies from assessments collected by the court for
violations of sexual offenses, stalking and domestic violence statutes (A.R.S.
§ 41-169).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $400,000 from the Victim Compensation and Assistance Fund in FY 2025 to the Address Confidentiality Program Fund.
2. Exempts the appropriation from lapsing.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
