A Resolution

supporting the state of israel.

Whereas, the State of Israel was deliberately attacked by Hamas terrorists on October 7th, 2023, the third deadliest attack since 1970, based on the number of fatalities; and 

Whereas, the people of Israel have endured the worst atrocities imaginable at the hands of Hamas terrorists and sympathizers; and

Whereas, Hamas terrorists have beheaded, raped and murdered in cold blood innocent women and children in Gaza and Israel; and

Whereas, Hamas terrorists have held hostage innocent civilians of Israel; and

Whereas, the State of Israel is the only true beacon of freedom and democracy in the Middle East; and

Whereas, if Israel were to lay down its arms there would be no more Israel; and

Whereas, if Hamas were to lay down its arms there would be peace; and

Whereas, in 2005 Israel completely left Gaza, removing all Jewish presence and giving land in exchange for peace with the Palestinians; and

Whereas, Israel had legal right, under international law, to this land, having gained the land from Egypt in a defensive war against several Arab countries in 1967; and

Whereas, instead of peace, Israel has experienced constant rocket attacks and Hamas has provoked wars over the last 15 years; and

Whereas, Hamas, a terrorist organization, is the ruling authority in Gaza and has controlled the region since 2007; and

Whereas, Hamas, and not Israel, has committed crimes against the Palestinian people, denying them basic rights such as water, electricity, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of movement; and

Whereas, Hamas uses schools, mosques and apartment buildings as launch pads for its rockets, using its people as human shields and knowingly and deliberately putting them in harm's way; and

Whereas, all Israelis, irrespective of their race, gender, sexual orientation or ethnicity, have equal rights at every level; and

Whereas, Israel has been a strong ally to the United States in the global war on terror; and

Whereas, Israel's Iron Dome is paramount to the safety and security of the people of Israel; and

Whereas, parts of the Iron Dome are manufactured in the State of Arizona; and

Whereas, Israel has every right to defend itself from terrorists and those who wish to harm innocent people and the State of Israel.

Therefore

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring:

That the Members of the Legislature continue to recognize and support the State of Israel in its efforts to fight against terror.
