An Act
amending title 15, chapter 7, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-701.04; relating to school curricula.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 15, chapter 7, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-701.04, to read:
15-701.04. Instruction on Asian American and Pacific Islander history and contributions; annual attestation; definition
A. In adopting the course of study and competency requirements pursuant to sections 15-701 and 15-701.01, the state board of education shall require instruction about Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander History, including:
1. The history of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders in this state, this region and the United States.
2. Contributions by Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities and individuals related to the advancement of civil rights from the nineteenth century to the present day.
3. Contributions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander individuals in the arts, humanities, science and government.
4. Contributions by Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities and individuals to the economic, cultural, social and political development of the United States.
B. On or before June 14, 2025 and each year thereafter, the department of education shall require school districts and charter schools to attest that the instruction required pursuant to this section is planned, ongoing and systematic.
C. For the purposes of this section, "Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander" includes Americans of East Asian, Southeast Asian, South Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander descent.
