Overview
Requires a nonresident owner of a watercraft to register and number the watercraft that the owner intends to rent to a third party and maintain and provide proof of insurance for the watercraft.
History
A nonresident owner (owner) of a watercraft who establishes this state as the state of principal operation must register and number that watercraft and pay an additional boating safety infrastructure fee assessed before placing that watercraft on the waterways of this state. The owner must carry and display proof of payment of the fee in a manner prescribed by the Arizona Game and Fish Commission (Commission) while the watercraft is underway, moored or anchored on the waterways of this state (A.R.S. § 5-326).
The Commission must assess a nonresident boating safety infrastructure fee for each watercraft registered in this state by a nonresident (A.R.S. § 5-327).
Provisions
1. Requires an owner of a watercraft, regardless of whether the owner establishes this state as the state of principal operation of a watercraft, if the owner intends to enter into rental agreements with a third party for the rental of a watercraft in this state, to:
a) Register and number the watercraft that the owner intends to rent to the third party; and
b) Maintain and provide proof of insurance for the watercraft subjected to the third party rental, valid through the duration of the watercraft rental. (Sec. 1)
2. Requires the owner of a watercraft to provide proof of insurance in this state. (Sec. 1)
