Summary of the Strike Everything Amendment to HB 2721

Overview

Changes the date for which a public officer must file a financial disclosure statement.

History

Every person who qualified as a public officer at any time during the preceding calendar year are statutorily required to file a verified financial disclosure statement with the Secretary of State by January 31 of each year. A public officer whose final term expires less than 31 days into the immediately following calendar year may file the final financial disclosure at the same time as the disclosure for the last immediately preceding year (A.R.S. § 18-444).

Provisions

1. Requires, rather than allows, a public officer whose final term expires less than 31 days into the immediately following calendar year to file the final financial disclosure by January 31 in the calendar after the year in which the public officer's term expires. (Sec. 1)

2. Adds that the final report must cover the entire calendar year for the year in which the public officer's term expires. (Sec. 1)

3. Applies retroactively to January 14, 2025. (Sec. 2)
