Overview
Supports the opportunities and ideas to substantially increase the availability of water in the Colorado River and other rivers in the Western United States.
History
The Colorado River provides approximately 17.5 million acre-feet of water for the states of Arizona, Colorado, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. (Colorado River). The Colorado River, experiencing a historic drought, has had a decline in annual water output since 2000. (Water Data).
Provisions
1. States the Legislature's support for focusing on responsibly managing forests and eradicating invasive salt cedars in the west, to substantially increase the availability of water in the Colorado River. (Sec 1)
2. Directs the Secretary of State to disperse copies of this House Concurrent Resolution to specific members of the federal government.
