Implements parental disclosure requirements for a school district or charter school regarding the health care credentials of individuals who provide routine health care services to students and the types of emergency response training required for employees.
History
The Arizona State Board of Nursing (AZBN) is tasked with licensing qualified RN and practical nurse applicants. AZBN rules detail requirements an applicant must meet to be licensed as an RN either through licensure by examination or licensure by endorsement. AZBN does not require a school nurse to hold a school nurse certification, though eligible individuals may apply for optional school nurse certification. To receive a school nurse certification from AZBN, an applicant must hold a current RN license in good standing or multistate privilege to practice as an RN in Arizona. AZBN must grant a school nurse certificate to any applicant who meets these criteria. A school nurse certificate expires every six years (A.R.S. Title 32, Chapter 15, A.A.C. R4-19-309 and R14-19-301).
Provisions
1. Requires a school district or charter school that provides routine health care services to students in the school's health office to provide, on request of a student's guardian, any health care credentials of each individual who provides such services. (Sec. 1)
2. Mandates a school district or charter school provide, on request by a student's guardian, information describing the types of emergency response training that the school district or charter school requires employees to complete. (Sec. 1)
3. Specifies a school district or charter school is not required to release the personally identifiable information of an employee or individual who provides routine health care services to students. (Sec. 1)
