SB 1620: appropriation; public safety training simulators

Overview

Appropriates $400,000 from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2026 to the State Treasurer to pay for public safety training simulators used by specified individuals.

History

The Arizona Department of Public Safety administers various funds, including the Peace Officers' Training Fund (Fund). Fund monies are continuously appropriated for the benefit of the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST).  Fund monies are to be used solely for: 1) the costs of training peace officers, including Indian tribe police officers; 2) grants to state agencies, counties, cities and towns for peace officer training; and 3) expenses for the operation of AZPOST (A.R.S. § 41-1825).

Provisions

1.   Appropriates $400,000 from the state GF in FY 2026 to the State Treasurer to pay for public safety training simulators used by the Arizona State University Police Department and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office. (Sec. 1)
