FACT SHEET FOR S.B. 1047

 

appropriations; named claimants

Purpose

Appropriates monies from various funds to named claimants in FY 2025.

Background

When monetary claims are made against the state, the Director of the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) has limited authority to approve payments to claimants, if claimants meet statutorily defined timelines and that sufficient monies are available to pay the approved claims. Claims that are more than one fiscal year old and less than four fiscal years old must be presented by ADOA to the Legislature to request appropriations sufficient for payment of the claims (A.R.S. ยง 35-191).

S.B. 1047 appropriates $292,499.17 from the state General Fund (state GF) and $95,970.80 from other funds to named claimants in FY 2025.

Provisions

1.   Appropriates $292,499.17 from the state GF in FY 25 to the following agencies for payment of claims:

a)   $308 to the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools;

b)   $4,744.67 to the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry; and

c)   $287,446.50 to the Arizona Department of Veteran Services (ADVS).

2.   Appropriates $62,601 from the Information Technology Fund in FY 2025 to ADOA for the payment of claims.

3.   Appropriates $2,688.30 from the Risk Management Revolving Fund in FY 2025 to ADOA for the payment of claims.

4.   Appropriates $3,850 from the Telecommunication Fund for the Deaf in FY 2025 to the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing for the payment of claims.

5.   Appropriates $9,091.49 from the State Highway Fund in FY 2025 to the Arizona Department of Transportation for the payment of claims.

6.   Appropriates $17,740.01 from the State Homes for Veteran's Trust Fund in FY 2025 to ADVS for the payment of claims.

7.   Requires ADOA to coordinate the payment of named claimants.

8.   Becomes effective on the general effective date.
