ARIZONA STATE SENATE
Fifty-Seventh Legislature, First Regular Session
appropriation; crime victim notification fund
Purpose
Appropriates $2,594,840 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2026 to the Law Enforcement Crime Victim Notification Fund (Fund).
Background
The Arizona Criminal Justice Commission (ACJC) must monitor new and continuing criminal justice legislation, facilitate research among criminal justice agencies and facilitate coordination on statewide efforts to improve criminal justice information and data sharing (A.R.S § 41-2405).
The Fund, administered by ACJC, is established to use Fund monies to expand ACJC's automated crime victim notification system and to fund software that meets outlined requirements, including: 1) automatically notifying the victim by email or text relating to the victim's law enforcement crime report; 2) providing for multiagency notification to enable an agency to automatically share the status of an incident or investigation with an identified partner agency; and 3) providing a designated statewide toll-free number that is available 24 hours, seven days a week. ACJC must use Fund monies to pay for law enforcement agencies that choose to use the automated crime victim notification system (A.R.S. § 41-2414).
