ARIZONA STATE SENATE
Fifty-Seventh Legislature, First Regular Session
concealed weapons permits; fees
Purpose
Prohibits the Department of Public Safety (DPS) from charging Arizona residents a fee for a concealed carry weapon (CCW) permit application.
Background
Applications for CCW permits must be completed on a form prescribed by DPS. The applicant must submit the application to DPS with any other required documentation, two sets of fingerprints and a reasonable fee determined by the Director of DPS (Director). The current fee for an initial CCW permit application is $60 and the current fee for a renewal application is $43 (DPS).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Prohibits DPS from charging a fee for an initial or renewal application for a CCW permit if the applicant is a resident of Arizona.
