ARIZONA STATE SENATE

appropriation; Arizona America250 commission
Purpose
Appropriates $500,000 and 5 FTEs from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2026 to the Secretary of State (SOS) to support the Arizona America250 commission (commission).
Background
The commission, established in 2022, is tasked to plan, develop, encourage, coordinate and implement an overall program for the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and the impact of Arizona citizens on the nation's past, present and future. The commission, by December 31st of each year, must submit a report to the Governor and Legislature of the activities, including the outputs and outcomes achieved and whether those achievements meet the commission's plan and overall program (Laws 2022, Ch. 49, Sec. 1).
S.B. 1601 appropriates $500,000 and 5 FTEs from the state GF in FY 2026 to the SOS.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $500,000 and 5 FTEs from the state GF in FY 2026 to the SOS to support the commission.
2. Exempts the appropriation from lapsing.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
