FACT SHEET FOR S.B. 1620

 

appropriation; public safety training; simulators

Purpose

Appropriates $400,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2026 to the State Treasurer to pay for the public safety training simulators used by the Arizona State University Police Department (ASU PD) and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).

Background

The State Treasurer is responsible for the safekeeping of all securities for which the State Treasurer is the lawful custodian. The State Treasurer invests state monies with consideration for the probable safety of capital and the probable rate of return over extended periods of time. The State Board of Investment (BOI) reviews the investment activities of the State Treasurer 
(Ariz. Const. art. 10 ยง 7).

S.B. 1620 appropriates $400,000 from the state GF in FY 2026 to the State Treasurer.

Provisions

1.   Appropriates $400,000 from the state GF in FY 2026 to the State Treasurer to pay for the public safety training simulators used by ASU PD and the SCSO.

2.   Becomes effective on the general effective date.
