ARIZONA STATE SENATE
Fifty-Seventh Legislature, First Regular Session
citrus; fruit; vegetable; fund; posting
Purpose
Requires the Arizona Department of Agriculture (AZDA) to post the report detailing all monies paid into and disbursed from the Citrus, Fruit and Vegetable Trust Fund (Fund) on the AZDA's website.
Background
Statute establishes the Fund for the exclusive purpose of implementing, continuing and supporting statutorily prescribed agricultural programs. The Fund consists of revenues from assessments and other monies designated for deposit in the Fund. The beneficiaries of the trust are the agricultural programs established by the statutes relating to citrus fruit standardization and fruit and vegetable standardization. The AZDA, by November 1st of each year, must make a detailed accounting of all monies paid into and disbursed from the Fund during the preceding fiscal year and transmit the report to the Citrus, Fruit and Vegetable Advisory Council by December 1st of each year. Any monies remaining unexpended in the Fund on June 30th of each year must be carried forward to the following year, and the Associate Director of the Citrus, Fruit and Vegetable Division of the AZDA must take that amount into account in computing the assessments for that year (A.R.S. ยง 3-447).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
