appropriation; address confidentiality program fund

Purpose

Appropriates $400,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2026 to the Address Confidentiality Program Fund (Fund).

Background

The Secretary of State (SOS) administers the Fund to allow persons that have been subjected to domestic violence offenses, sexual offenses or stalking to keep their residence addresses confidential (A.R.S. § 41-162). The Fund is administered by the SOS and consists of monies from assessments collected by the court for violations of sexual offenses, stalking and domestic violence statutes (A.R.S. § 41-169).

The Fund receives an ongoing appropriation of $250,000 from the state GF and monies are exempt from lapsing (OSPB).

H.B. 2177 appropriates $400,000 from the state GF in FY 2026 to the Fund.

Provisions

1.   Appropriates $400,000 from the state GF in FY 2026 to the Fund.

2.   Declares the Legislature's intent that the appropriation be considered ongoing funding in future years.

3.   Becomes effective on the general effective date.
