ARIZONA STATE SENATE

appropriation; Somerton bridge replacement
Purpose
Appropriates $1,300,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2026 to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to distribute to Yuma County for the bridge replacement project on Somerton Avenue.
Background
ADOT is tasked
to provide for an integrated balanced state transportation system and has
exclusive control and jurisdiction over all state: 1) highways; 2) roads; 3)
owned airports; and
4) owned transportation systems or modes. ADOT is responsible for the design
and construction of transportation facilities in accordance with a priority
plan and to maintain and operate all state owned highways, airports and public
transportation systems (A.R.S. ยงยง 28-331
and 28-332).
H.B. 2562 appropriates $1,300,000 from the state GF in FY 2026 to ADOT.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $1,300,000 from the state GF in FY 2026 to ADOT to distribute to Yuma County for the bridge replacement project on Somerton Avenue between West County 10th Street and West County 11th Street.
2. Requires ADOT to only distribute the monies if Yuma County demonstrates to ADOT that Yuma County has a commitment for matching monies of gifts, grants and donations from sources other than the state of at least $200,000 for the bridge replacement project.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
