ARIZONA STATE SENATE

Donald J. Trump highway
Purpose
Urges the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to rename State Route (SR) 260 as the Donald J. Trump Highway.
Background
ADOT is responsible for the design and construction of state public transportation systems and the maintenance and operation of state highways in Arizona (A.R.S. § 28-332). ADOT may contract and do all things necessary to secure the full benefits available to Arizona for transportation purposes under federal law. ADOT may cooperate with: 1) federal, state and local government agencies; 2) Indian tribes; 3) private and public organizations; and 4) private individuals. ADOT may exchange federal monies with local governments in order to receive local monies and may include additional federal monies in the exchange to offset the matching costs required of local governments (A.R.S. § 28-334).
Originally known as the General Crook Trail, SR 260 is 193-miles long, stretching from Heber to Eager, Arizona (ADOT).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Urges ADOT to designate SR 260 as the Donald J. Trump Highway and approve, place and maintain appropriate signage identifying the designated highway.
2. Directs the Secretary of State to transmit a copy of this memorial to the Director of ADOT.
