An Act

amending title 45, chapter 2, article 9, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 45-576.11; relating to groundwater management.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 45, chapter 2, article 9, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 45-576.11, to read:

START_STATUTE45-576.11. Demand calculator; rules; conservation codes; five-year review

A. Beginning on the effective date of this section and every five years thereafter, the director shall adopt rules to update the department's project demand calculator.

B. Rules adopted pursuant to this section shall:

1. Provide all inputs that the department's project demand calculator uses.

2. Reflect the latest conservation codes in effect when rulemaking occurs.

C. For the purposes of this section, the director may conduct expediated rulemaking as prescribed by section 41-1027.END_STATUTE

Sec. 2. Emergency

This act is an emergency measure that is necessary to preserve the public peace, health or safety and is operative immediately as provided by law.
